Connecting Social Media Accounts

Rheos requires connected social media accounts to publish posts. This guide explains how to connect Instagram and LinkedIn for scheduling and publishing.

You can connect accounts during onboarding or anytime later from Settings > Integrations.

Accessing Integrations Settings

  1. Navigate to Settings

  2. Select Integrations from the settings menu

  3. You'll see available social platform connections

The Integrations page shows connection status for each platform and options to connect or disconnect.

Connecting Instagram

Instagram requires manual approval from the Rheos team:

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations

  2. Find the Instagram connection section

  3. Enter your Instagram handle (without the @ symbol)

  4. Click Submit Handle

  5. You'll see: "Instagram handle submitted! We'll enable your account shortly."

Once submitted:

  • The Rheos team reviews and enables your Instagram connection

  • This process typically takes 1-2 business days

  • You'll receive a notification when enabled

  • The button changes to Submitted status

You cannot schedule or publish Instagram posts until your handle is approved. Create and save drafts while waiting for approval.

Connecting LinkedIn

LinkedIn uses OAuth for instant connection:

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations

  2. Find the LinkedIn connection section

  3. Click Connect

  4. A popup window opens with LinkedIn authorization

  5. Log in to LinkedIn if needed

  6. Authorize Rheos to post on your behalf

  7. Return to Rheos to see Connected status

Connection is immediate once you authorize in the LinkedIn popup.

Keep the LinkedIn popup window visible during authorization. Closing it may cancel the connection process.

Verifying Connection Status

To check if accounts are connected:

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations

  2. Look for status indicators next to each platform:

    • Connect – Not connected

    • Submitted – Instagram handle pending approval

    • Connected – Active connection

    • Disconnected or error – Connection issue

Disconnecting Accounts

To remove a social connection:

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations

  2. Find the connected platform

  3. Click Disconnect or similar option

  4. Confirm disconnection

Disconnecting an account will prevent scheduled posts from publishing to that platform. Only disconnect if you no longer want to use the account.

Reconnecting Accounts

If a connection expires or fails:

LinkedIn:

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations

  2. Click Connect again

  3. Complete OAuth authorization

  4. Connection is restored

Instagram:

  1. Contact Rheos support if your Instagram connection stops working

  2. You may need to resubmit your handle or verify account details

Connection During Onboarding

If you connected during onboarding (Step 3 of the wizard):

  • Your connections are already set up

  • Verify in Settings > Integrations that they're active

  • If you skipped onboarding connections, use Settings to connect now

Multiple Accounts

Currently, Rheos supports one Instagram handle and one LinkedIn profile per organization. To switch accounts:

  1. Disconnect the current account

  2. Connect the new account

Team features may support multiple accounts in the future.

Common Connection Issues

Instagram "Submitted" stays pending Wait 1-2 business days for approval. Contact support if it exceeds this timeframe.

LinkedIn popup blocked Check browser popup blocker settings and allow popups from Rheos. Try connecting again.

LinkedIn authorization fails Ensure you're logged in to the correct LinkedIn account. Try logging out and back in to LinkedIn, then reconnect in Rheos.

"Failed to schedule post" errors Verify both platforms show "Connected" status in Settings > Integrations. Reconnect if needed.

LinkedIn connections may expire periodically. If scheduled posts fail, check connection status and reauthorize if needed.

Account Permissions

Connected accounts need posting permissions:

  • Instagram: You must own or have posting access to the submitted handle

  • LinkedIn: You must authorize your personal or company page

Rheos will only post content you create and schedule—connections do not grant access to read or modify existing content.

Security and Privacy

  • OAuth connections are secure and industry-standard

  • Rheos does not store your social media passwords

  • You can revoke access anytime in LinkedIn settings or by disconnecting in Rheos

  • Instagram handles are submitted manually to prevent unauthorized access
