Scheduling Posts to Instagram and LinkedIn
Rheos lets you schedule posts in advance to Instagram and LinkedIn, helping you maintain a consistent posting schedule without manual publishing.
Before scheduling: Connect your Instagram handle and LinkedIn account in Settings > Integrations. Scheduled posts require active connections to publish.
Viewing Your Content Calendar
To see your scheduled posts:
Navigate to Posts (labeled "Social" in sidebar)
Click the Calendar tab
View your posts plotted on a calendar grid
The calendar shows:
Scheduled posts by date and time
Published posts (past dates)
Draft posts (not yet scheduled)
Color coding by status or platform
Scheduling a Post
There are two ways to schedule posts:
From the post editor:
Create or edit a post
Complete caption, media, and platform selection
Click Schedule
Choose date and time
Confirm
From the calendar:
Go to Posts > Calendar
Drag a draft post to a date/time slot
Or click Add event to create and schedule in one step
The post is scheduled for that slot
Use the calendar drag-and-drop to quickly reorganize your posting schedule. Visual planning helps maintain content balance.
Choosing Optimal Times
When selecting publish times, consider:
Audience activity – When your followers are most active
Platform differences – Instagram peak times differ from LinkedIn
Content type – Professional content often performs better on LinkedIn during business hours
Consistency – Regular posting times build audience expectations
Rheos may suggest optimal posting times based on your audience data (check Dashboard analytics).
Multi-Platform Scheduling
When scheduling to both Instagram and LinkedIn:
The same post publishes to both platforms at the scheduled time
Formatting is optimized for each platform automatically
One scheduling action handles both platforms
You cannot schedule different times per platform for the same post—create separate posts if you need staggered timing.
Editing Scheduled Posts
To change a scheduled post before it publishes:
Find the post in Calendar or All Posts
Click to open the post editor
Make your changes (caption, media, time, platforms)
Save to update the scheduled post
Changes apply up until the scheduled publish time.
Once a post starts publishing, you cannot edit it. Make changes before the scheduled time.
Rescheduling Posts
To change when a post publishes:
From calendar:
Drag the post to a new date/time slot
The schedule updates automatically
From post editor:
Open the scheduled post
Click Reschedule or edit the schedule
Choose new date/time
Save changes
Canceling Scheduled Posts
To unschedule a post:
Open the scheduled post
Click Unschedule or remove the schedule
The post reverts to draft status
The post remains in your drafts and can be rescheduled later.
Schedule Conflicts and Errors
"Connect a social account first" This error appears when you try to schedule without connected accounts. Go to Settings > Integrations to connect.
"Failed to schedule post" Check:
Your social account connections are still active
You have permission to post on connected accounts
The scheduled time is in the future
Media meets platform requirements (size, format)
Drag-to-calendar errors If dragging a post to calendar fails, ensure the post has required fields (media, caption, platform) completed.
Rheos validates posts before scheduling. Fix any errors indicated in the editor before attempting to schedule.
Viewing Scheduled Posts
To see all scheduled content:
Calendar view – Visual timeline of scheduled posts
All Posts tab – List view filtered by "Scheduled" status
Both views show the same posts with different organization.
Time Zones
Scheduled times use your account's time zone (set in Settings > General). Ensure your time zone is correct so posts publish when intended.
Post Publishing Process
When a scheduled post's time arrives:
Rheos automatically sends the post to selected platforms
Platform APIs process and publish the content
Post status updates from "Scheduled" to "Published"
If errors occur, status changes to "Failed" with error details
You'll receive notifications (if enabled) when posts publish or fail.
Instagram Scheduling Notes
Instagram handle must be submitted and approved during onboarding
You'll see: "Instagram handle submitted! We'll enable your account shortly."
Approval typically takes 1-2 business days
You cannot schedule Instagram posts until approved
LinkedIn Scheduling Notes
LinkedIn requires OAuth connection (done in Settings > Integrations)
Connection must remain active for scheduled posts to publish
If LinkedIn auth expires, you'll need to reconnect
Best Practices
Schedule in batches – Plan a week or month of content at once
Use consistent times – Build audience habits with regular posting schedules
Review before publishing – Check scheduled posts the day before they go live
Monitor published posts – Check that scheduled posts published successfully
Keep connections active – Periodically verify social account connections in Settings
